Arbitration on the West Coast, 1896

Representatives of the Westport Coal Company (left) and the Denniston Miners’ Union (right) attend an arbitration meeting in Westport in 1896. The agreements they reached resulted in the first award to be registered under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1894.
