An Iranian refugee

An Iranian refugee

Iranian Shahab Forouzandeh (shown here in Wellington in 1991), is a trained pilot who flew planes in the Iran-Iraq war. He applied to the Royal New Zealand Air Force, only to be told he was too old. Although he found work as a bus driver in Wellington, he was considering studying computer science.
