Nīkau grove

Nīkau (Rhopalostylis sapida), mainland New Zealand’s only native palm, grows as a subcanopy tree in conifer–broadleaf forest. It is found on the North Island’s coast and lowlands, and in coastal areas in the upper half of the South Island.
