Weka harvest

Weka harvest

Since buff weka were introduced to the Chatham Islands in 1905, they have become valued by the community as a hunting and food resource. Weka are protected on mainland New Zealand, but on the Chatham Islands an annual harvest is permitted. Photographer Robin Morrison captured this image of Gary Solomon preparing weka for the pot.
