Story: Penguins
A burrow may be less feasible for the larger penguins because it could collapse. Snares crested penguins mostly nest among trees, but also in rocky ground or in the open. Trees provide some cover from predatory birds such as skuas and giant petrels, as well as from wind and rain. The nests at bottom left of the photograph are on mounds, protecting the egg from moisture. The penguin in the tree is just resting.
