Patupaiarehe stamp

Patupaiarehe, also known as tūrehu and pakepakehā, were fairy-like beings who were believed to live in the forests, hills and mountains. They often had blonde hair and played kōauau (flutes), like the one shown, or pūtōrino (another type of flute). Although this patupaiarehe is blue, their skin colour was described as white or red.
