Alexandra and Clyde, 1863

A year after the first gold was discovered on the Dunstan, ‘Hartley or lower town’ (soon to be named Alexandra) and ‘Dunstan or upper town’ (Clyde) feature in this sketch of the Clutha River basin shared by the two settlements. Two gold miners carrying swags and tools are heading for the towns.
