Fisher and Paykel ran an appliance factory at Mosgiel near Dunedin for many years. In June 2007 the factory produced its millionth dishdrawer dishwasher. However, a year later Fisher and Paykel announced that the plant would close, and production shifted to facilities in Italy, Mexico and Thailand.
