McKenzie monument (2nd of 2)

McKenzie monument

This memorial to local politician Jock McKenzie, who was minister of lands from 1891 until his death in 1901, is on top of Puketapu, the hill behind Palmerston in East Otago. The 13-metre-high cairn, built of blue stone, was erected in 1931 after an earlier monument collapsed.
