Triumphant arrival

Some members of the swimming team (from left, Christine Harris, Philip Rush, Kaine Thompson) come ashore at D’Urville Island, along with Olive Baldwin (right foreground), the Kapiti Coast historian who researched the route of Hinepoupou’s swim. At the back of the support vessel stands Joy Hope, a descendant of Hinepoupou.
