Māori population, Northland, 2001

This map shows the variation in concentration (as opposed to absolute numbers) of Māori in Northland districts, and the towns within those districts. There are much higher percentages of Māori in the north and centre of the region than there are in the south or the Bay of Islands. This is a reflection partly of historical settlement and partly of recent employment patterns.
