Kiwi killed by a dog

Kiwi killed by a dog

Animals including dogs threaten Northland’s population of the flightless kiwi. Between 1990 and June 1995, dogs caused 70% of the kiwi deaths reported in the region. Programmes to control cats, dogs, stoats and other predators, and to assist the recovery of important species such as the kiwi, are now under way.
