Kauri snail (2nd of 3)

Kauri snail

The giant kauri snail, whose shell can measure 6 centimetres across, is found in the Northland mainland and on some of its inshore islands. Widespread before human settlement, these snails are now endangered or threatened. The snail’s diet consists of earthworms, insects, insect larvae – and snails.
