Story: Northland places
In the 1990s the New Zealand Historic Places Trust carried out research on Pompallier House which revealed its original functions and architecture. It has since been restored to the appearance it would have had when members of Bishop Pompallier’s Catholic Mission to Oceania used it as a printery and tannery, with attached storehouses and a chapel.
