Muddy waters (3rd of 3)

Muddy waters

The waters at Ngāwhā contain soda mercury, and range in colour from slate grey to milky white. The consistency also varies, as this photograph of a little girl standing up to her knees in liquid mud shows. The waters are thought to be beneficial for a range of skin and rheumatic disorders.
