This clip is from a video, Hikurangi ruamano 2000: celebrating the millennium, which explored the preparations made by Ngāti Porou to commemorate the coming of the new millennium. The celebrations were planned to take place on the summit of Hikurangi, the first place in mainland New Zealand to see the dawn of the new millennium. The speaker, Tamati Reedy, addresses Ngāti Porou and invites them to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors and ascend Hikurangi. There they might stand upon their ancestral mountain and view the world for one final time before the new century is born.
