Brooke Turia of Ngāti Apa wears a T-shirt with the tribe’s logo. The five small koru (fern shapes) at the right of the logo symbolise the unity between the people who have traditionally lived along the Mangawhero, Whangaehu, Turakina, Rangitīkei and Ōroua rivers. The two larger koru at the centre represent the balance between divine and human principles.
