Story: Ngā waewae tapu – Māori exploration
Kahupekapeka, an important Tainui ancestor, was an explorer who named a number of different mountains, ranges and hills. She died after climbing a hill named Te Puke-o-Kahu, between the Rangitoto and Pureora forests.
