Story: Ngā manu – birds
The New Zealand Māori rugby team moves forward as a compact group while performing the haka (war dance). This movement is called kawau mārō, and also describes a group of men going into battle with a haka. A kawau is a shag – the metaphor refers to the way a shag stretches its neck when it is ready to fly.
