Conifer–broadleaf forest

This is a conifer–broadleaf forest in the central North Island. There are two main native forest types in New Zealand: conifer–broadleaf and beech. Conifer–broadleaf forests have distinct layers and many more species than beech forests. This type of forest prefers warmer, lowland areas.
