Tablelands, Kahurangi National Park

Mt Arthur Tablelands is a high plateau between Mt Arthur and Mt Peel in Kahurangi National Park. It is dotted with drifts of yellow-flowering Bulbinella hookeri (Māori onion weed). The alpine and rock plants include a number of endemic, notable and threatened species. Kahurangi’s rich native flora – it has the highest number of endemic plants of any national park – was a major reason for its establishment.
