Mona Tracy wrote this article for the Christchurch Sun in April 1928, revealing that train daytrippers from Christchurch were destroying native plants around Arthur’s Pass by taking flowers and roots. After protests from other conservationists, Arthur’s Pass National Park was established the following year.
