Story: Meat and wool
Waterside workers unload sheep carcasses from railway wagons and stack them on cargo nets, in 1948. The nets are then lifted into the hold of a ship by a crane or hoist, and the carcasses stacked for shipment. The shipment of whole carcasses persisted from the establishment of the frozen meat trade in 1882 until the 1970s. Today most meat is exported as cuts in boxes.
