Pelorus Sound mail boat, 1962

As the mail boat pulls up at Te Rawa Boatels wharf in Wilsons Bay, on the Hikapu reach of Pelorus Sound, Bill Spencer receives a package from the wife of the boat's skipper, Sonny Johnson. The Johnson family had the mail-delivery contract for the inner sounds from 1924 until the 1970s.
