Story: Marine invaders
This hull of an overseas yacht is covered in fouling organisms – one way that unwanted species can be introduced. Hulls can be treated with anti-fouling paint, but yachts and fishing vessels are less likely than cargo vessels to have regular anti-fouling treatment. The slower speed of smaller vessels means that organisms are more likely to stay attached during ocean crossings.
