Gone fishing

Signs such as this on the Kapiti coast tell boat owners that fishing is illegal within the boundaries of the Kapiti Marine Reserve. This does not apply to fishing in adjacent areas. Research has shown that recreational angling benefits from marine reserves – they act as a nursery for young fish, which increases fish stocks elsewhere.
