Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine

In 2004 Mutiara restaurant in Ponsonby, Auckland, was run by Malaysian Roy Lim. His establishment offered Malaysian dishes and Nonya-style food of Singapore. These cuisines are a mix of Malay, Chinese and Indian cooking traditions. Asian cuisine has boomed in New Zealand since the 1990s, and Malaysian dishes in particular have proven very popular.
