Story: Logging native forests
A Māori cook blows on a bullock horn to call the bushmen to a meal. Bullock horns were also used to raise the alarm if there was an accident in the bush. The structure to the left of the main hut is a huge chimney containing the cooking fire and equipment. The rough slab hut has a thatched roof, probably made of raupō or nīkau leaves.
