Number of patent applications

These graphs show the number of applications made to the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand since 1995 for patents, trademarks and designs. The number of overseas applications for a patent in New Zealand rose sharply, while the number of applications made from within New Zealand remained relatively steady. The number of applications for a trademark increased three times since 1995, while the number of design applications barely changed.
