Some interest groups have been led by former MPs, making it easier for them to gain the ear of government. For instance, the Road Transport Forum has been headed by Tony Friedlander and Ken Shirley, former National and ACT MPs respectively. In 2011 the Food and Grocery Council was led by Katherine Rich, another former National MP. Here she visits a supermarket in 2010 with Phil Lempert, the food trends editor for NBC's Today show, known in the US as the 'supermarket guru'.
