Wilding pines (1st of 3)

Wilding pines

These trees are Pinus contorta, growing wild near Queenstown. They spread over grassland, and can gradually change the appearance of the landscape. The only way to get rid of wilding pines is to remove them by hand. Many volunteer groups are trying to eradicate these non-native intruders.
