Whakarewarewa: living in a thermal area

The Māori settlement of Whakarewarewa, Rotorua, was built around the thermal area, and the inhabitants are used to living close to steam and hot water. Pools have traditionally been used for cooking and bathing, and some people have made a living from guiding visitors.
