Hunt at Ōmarunui

Hunt at Ōmarunui

As in Wairarapa and Canterbury, Hawke’s Bay runholding families evolved into a New Zealand version of the English landed gentry. Grand homesteads were built and private schools established to cater for these wealthy families. Balls, house parties and elite horse sports were common social and leisure pursuits. This is a local hunt meet at Ōmarunui, probably in the 1940s.
