New Zealand soldiers and people of Galatas, Crete

A lasting bond was forged between Cretans and New Zealand soldiers during the Battle for Crete in the Second World War. Men of the New Zealand Division were guests of honour at a luncheon given by the people of Galatas on 29 September 1945.
