Flowering tussocks

These hunangamoho or broad-leaved bush tussocks (Chionochloa conspicua subsp. conspicua) are flowering in the upper Hollyford valley in Fiordland. Tussocks are grasses that grow from a central clump at their base. The leaves fan up and outward from the base.
