In the early 2000s household access to the internet varied across New Zealand. People in the Auckland and Wellington regions were most likely to access the internet from home, whereas those in Gisborne and the West Coast were least likely to. Wealth, education and household composition influenced access to the internet, and it is likely that the regional variation seen here results from these factors.
