Field work in the 1930s (1st of 3)

Max Gage poses with his brand-new Hercules two-speed bicycle. He worked as a student assistant for the Geological Survey in the summer of 1935–36. Working in the Wairarapa with geologist Mont Ongley, his only means of transport was a bicycle, which he had to supply.
