Story: Game birds

Bob-white quail (6th of 6)

Bob-white quail

The bob-white quail was introduced to New Zealand, but with little success. A small population established around Lake Waikaremoana, but may no longer exist. Small groups have also been reported in south Auckland and northern Hawke’s Bay. Few hunters have ever seen it in the wild, with most birds now in game farms.
