Hochstetter’s frog

Hochstetter’s frog is the most water-loving of the native frogs, and the only one to have any webbing – the hind toes are half-webbed. It lives close to streams in native forests up to 800 metres altitude in the North Island, and used to be in the South Island as well. Colour varies from green to brown, and gives good camouflage.
