Women of the Le Comte family (2nd of 3)

Women of the Le Comte family

The Le Comte family were not among Akaroa’s original French settlers. David Le Comte was a cabinetmaker who arrived in Wellington with his wife in 1848. They moved south to Akaroa in the early 1860s, and settled at Barrys Bay, at the head of Akaroa Harbour. This portrait is of Madame Le Comte and one of her daughters.
