Story: Flax and flax working

Making woolpacks

From the 1930s a local industry developed to process flax fibre. Woolpacks were one of the products made for the New Zealand market. This newsreel from 1943 shows packs being made of flax fibre at a Foxton factory, and then filled with wool for export.
