Impulse Dancers

Formed in 2001, the Auckland-based Impulse Dancers perform modern dance, but their focus is on traditional dances. The most popular are the ‘bamboo dance’ Tinikling, and another called Pandango Sa Ilaw. ‘Pandango’comes from the Spanish word fandango, a lively dance characterised by stepping and clapping. Pandango Sa Ilaw dancers balance candles on their heads and the back of each hand.
