Helping the war effort

This poster from the 1940s illustrates New Zealand’s connection with the British Empire, and the role agriculture played in the war effort. It depicts dairy cattle and a dairy factory, with Mt Taranaki (Egmont) in the background. From the outset of the refrigerated shipping trade, New Zealand was often referred to as ‘Britain’s farm’.
