Story: Farm buildings

Farmhouse, Mangamāhū, 1930s

Farmhouse, Mangamāhū, 1930s

Mangamāhū is in isolated hill country north-east of Whanganui. The front of this farmhouse is fairly similar to a large suburban house in the city, with the same shrubs and exotic trees in the garden. The house would have been distinguished from its urban equivalent by the buildings out the back – the stables, the woodshed, the machinery shop and the fowl house.
