Protesters marched on Parliament on 29 March 2007 to protest against the Crimes Amendment Bill, which would end parents’ right to use a defence of using 'reasonable force' to discipline their children in child abuse cases. They wanted to say that smacking was not the same as abuse and that the change to the Crimes Act would criminalise parents who smacked their children.
