Forest Research Institute scientists

Forest Research Institute scientists

In 1946 the forerunner of the Forest Research Institute (now Scion) was set up at Rotorua to coordinate and promote scientific research. A large number of technicians and forest researchers, many from Britain and Europe, were recruited in the 1950s. The men taking measurements in a sample plot of trees are (from left) Eliot Cutten, Bob Irvine, Harry Rijnenberg and Charles van der Voort.
