Dunedin Club dinner card, 1901

This is the cover of the menu for a dinner given by the Dunedin Club in honour of Captain Robert Falcon Scott on 23 December 1901, just before he and his men sailed to the Antarctic. Those who signed the card include Scott, polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and the prominent Dunedin ship-owner James Mills. Dinners for visiting celebrities and governors were a regular feature of the calendar of gentlemen's clubs.
