Lake frontage

During the 1880s, Auckland experienced a land boom. Speculators invested heavily in suburban subdivisions. Among those offered for sale on the eve of the boom’s collapse was the Hurstmere Estate at Takapuna. This included sections fronting Lake Takapuna (Pupuke).
