Paterson Inlet, Stewart island

Paterson Inlet, Stewart island

Stewart Island, part of the windward ecoregion, has a cool, moist and windy climate. It is mostly covered in native plants, which often grow down to the high-tide mark. The vegetation pattern is a mosaic of forest, scrub, and open ground. The forests are dominated by rimu and kāmahi.
