Bamboo rush (2nd of 3)

Bamboo rush

The bamboo rush (Sporadanthus ferrugineus) is found only in the North Island. It once grew extensively from Kaitāia to the Waikato, in lowland raised peat bogs. As these were drained and converted to pasture, the species has disappeared from 95% of its natural range.
